As a platform where companies do business with each other, effective collaboration is always top of mind for us at ZenPurchase. While our typical use case is connecting large companies to each other, we are really excited about a special initiative that we are working on in conjunction with Siemens.
1. Innovation Past, Present, and Future
The innovation landscape has changed in the last 20 years. Most large companies no longer exclusively own all of the innovation relevant to their markets. Today, there’s a lot of disruptive and transformative innovation happening at startups. Yet most large companies have a hard time working effectively with startups and vice versa. This results in potential business opportunities that never see the light of day.
2. Introducing the Siemens Frontier Program
Siemens Technology-to-Business (TTB) drives growth for Siemens' businesses through external innovation. Through its new Frontier Program, Siemens offers early-stage startups an opportunity to develop and grow new businesses in 3D printing by building on a package of proven and scalable software with world-class technical support. Startups can leverage Siemens’ channels to reach industrial enterprise customers after they complete the Frontier program.
3. Why Siemens TTB is a model for other corporations
Large companies typically have professional organizations handling Mergers & Acquisitions and Venture Capital investment, but when it comes to partnerships with startups, it tends to be ad hoc and often ineffective. TTB is a professional organization focused on developing effective business partnerships between startups and Siemens. It’s a global network with one of its centers in Berkeley, CA, with a strong network in Silicon Valley and reach in the global startup community. They use flexible and proven ways to work with innovators.
From a startup's perspective, one area in which TTB adds tremendous value is easing the path toward doing business with Siemens. Silicon Valley startups often find it difficult to work with large enterprises. TTB makes timely connections to decision-makers throughout Siemens.
4. How ZenPurchase is working with Siemens TTB
ZenPurchase provides the software platform for 3D printing startups to find out more about the Siemens Frontier Program, submit applications and documents, and engage directly with key Siemens stakeholders. The ultimate goal is to build the next generation of great 3D printing businesses. ZenPurchase's collaborative nature makes it easy for TTB to invite stakeholders from different Siemens businesses and project-manage the entire program easily in one place.
We are thrilled to work with Siemens TTB on such an important endeavor, and we believe that this model of interaction between corporations and startups is highly effective and leads to massive win-win outcomes.
